19 from N.J. make the 2016 Fortune 500 list

The annual Fortune 500 list of the nation’s largest companies is out, and New Jersey is well represented, with 19 companies on the list, including four in the Top 75.Fortune ranked American companies that file government financial statements by total revenue for their fiscal year, releasing the results Monday.

Walmart was the runaway first-place company, posting revenue of $482 billion-plus for its most recent fiscal year. That was nearly double the revenue of second-place ExxonMobil, which reported $246 billion in revenue for the year.

The largest New Jersey company was New Brunswick-based health science company Johnson & Johnson, which came in at No. 39, with revenue of $70 billion for the fiscal year.

Newark-based financial services firm Prudential Financial, with revenue of $57.1 billion, ranked No. 50.

Kenilworth-based drugmaker Merck, with revenue of $39.5 billion, and Morris Plains-based conglomerate Honeywell International, with revenue of $38.6 billion, finished at No. 72 and No. 75, respectively.

Other New Jersey companies that can call themselves Fortune 500 firms, with their ranking and revenue, include:
