Roseland-based payroll processing company ADP reported private sector non-farm employment in the United States increased by 213,000 jobs from December to January.
Companies that employ between one and 49 people added 63,000 jobs; companies that employ between 50 and 499 people added 84,000 jobs; and companies that employ more than 500 people added 66,000 jobs.
The number of jobs that were added by industry of the economy included 46,000 in business professions, 38,000 in education/health care, 35,000 in construction, and 33,000 in manufacturing.
The one industry that lost jobs was mining with a drop of 1,000.
New Jersey’s unemployment rate was 4.0 percent in December, according to the New Jersey Department of Labor.
