Advance Realty and F. Greek Development have broken ground on a new 190,000-square-foot industrial facility in Woodbridge, where Preferred Freezer Services will operate one of its newest refrigerated warehouses in less than a year. The developers marked the state of construction during a ceremony Wednesday, joining their future tenant and township officials at 275 Blair Road. The project is expected to open in April, generating 60 jobs upon completion, Mayor John McCormac said.

The facility is a joint venture of Bridgewater-based Advance and F. Greek Development, which is based in East Brunswick.

In a prepared statement, Advance President Peter Cocoziello said the project will “put Preferred Freezer in a position to excel in the market by taking advantage of this key location and the ample amenities that its new facility will provide.”

The site is minutes from New Jersey Turnpike Exit 12, giving it easy access to Newark Liberty International Airport and the Port Newark-Elizabeth marine terminal.

“We look forward to the completion of this project next year and fully expect to see other corporations follow Preferred Freezer’s lead in developing tailored industrial facilities in the region,” Cocoziello said.

Preferred Freezer, which started with a warehouse in nearby Perth Amboy, has 31 facilities in nine regions nationwide, including several in New Jersey, according to its website.
