German grocer Aldi is set to open a location in Totowa on Thursday as part of its national expansion plan to become the third-largest U.S. grocery retailer by store count by the end of 2022, the company announced Wednesday.
“We are dedicated to providing the communities we serve the best groceries at the lowest possible prices, and we look forward to introducing Totowa to their new neighborhood grocery store,” said Bob Grammer, Center Valley division vice president for Aldi, in a prepared statement.
“We are focused on continuing to expand and open new stores across the country because we want to do our part. We know now, more than ever, easy access to fresh food and household essentials is invaluable,” Grammer said.
Aldi has sold predominantly store brand items since entering the U.S. market in 1976 to keep items affordable; currently, nine out of 10 brands at Aldi are exclusive to the retailer.
The new store is located at 465 Route 46 and will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
A representative for Aldi did not return request for comment by press time.
