Amazon said Tuesday its 415,000-square-foot delivery station in Kearny will officially open for business this week and welcome associates inside the building to celebrate its first day of operation.
Located at 50 Central Ave., the location will create more than 120 full-time associate jobs – all paying at least $15.00 per hour – in addition to hundreds of driver opportunities for Amazon’s Delivery Service Partners and Amazon Flex drivers.
Delivery stations focus on the last mile of the Amazon order process. Packages are shipped to a delivery station from neighboring Amazon Fulfillment and Sortation Centers, loaded into delivery vehicles and delivered to customers.
In celebration of the Kearny station launch, Amazon made a $5,000 donation to Children’s Specialized Hospital Outpatient Center at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and fulfilled hundreds of wish list items including toys, activity books, and games for immuno-compromised patients.
In June, Amazon Logistics said it signed various leases in an effort to open 14 delivery stations in New Jersey in 2020, of which the Kearny facility was among.
