Amazon Logistics announced it will open a 132,000-square-foot New Jersey Delivery Station, located in Mount Olive Township. The new facility will power Amazon’s last-mile delivery capabilities to speed up deliveries for customers in the Morris County area.
The center will open in the space once occupied by Sam’s Club at the ITC Crossing North shopping center on Route 46 in Mount Olive, company spokesperson Shone Jemmott said in an emailed statement.
“Delivery stations enable Amazon Logistics to supplement capacity and flexibility to Amazon’s delivery capabilities to support the growing volume of customer orders,” said Jemmott. He also noted the facility will service deliveries only and will not be open to walk-in customers.
Jemmott said the station will create hundreds of part-time and full-time jobs, starting at $15.00 per hour, and will offer entrepreneurs the opportunity to build their own business delivering Amazon packages, as well as independent contractors the flexibility to be their own boss, create their own schedule delivering for Amazon Flex.
This will be the company’s third delivery station in the state. The facility expects to open in 2020.
