American Dream reveals 4-part opening celebration, dates

American Dream developers Triple Five announced the opening of its 3 million-square-foot shopping, dining and entertainment complex in the Meadowlands will occur in a total of four chapters – with the first set to begin in October.

Chapter 1, aka “Thrills & Chills,” is the first part of the mall to debut when the Nickelodeon Universe Theme Park comes to life for the public on Oct. 25.

Inside this theme area will be 35 rides, roller coasters and attractions. SpongeBob, Dora The Explorer, and all the Nickelodeon BFFs are waiting to welcome everyone. The park even has gallons of slime and live entertainment to take place on the Nickelodeon Slime Stage.

Also opening on Oct. 25 is The Rink, American Dream’s NHL-regulation size ice rink that will feature activities including open skating, figure skating, hockey tournaments, events and more. A spooky skate is planned for Oct. 31, and there will be a pumpkin pick-and-paint, farm favorites, face painting and other “Fall-tivities.”

Chapter 2 arrives in late November when Make a Splash, DreamWorks Water Park will open. Guests will be able to immerse themselves in Madagascar’s Rain Forest, Shrek’s Swamp and the Kung Fu Panda Zone within North America’s largest indoor water park featuring more than 40 water slides and 15 attractions, from SurfRiders to the lazy river. Visitors can also catch the PerfectSwell in a 1.5-acre wave pool – the largest in the world, or go drop 142 feet on the world’s tallest indoor body slide.

On Dec. 5 “Every Day is a Snow Day” when Chapter 3 opens. The holiday season will begin with Santa’s arrival on the slopes at Big Snow. Guests will be able to ski and snowboard 365 days a year at North America’s only indoor real-snow park.

Big Snow promises fun for the family – from bunny hill beginners to black diamond experts. Private lessons, coaching and kid’s camps are some of the many activities available. Big Snow will also feature The Shops at Big Snow, an experiential retail environment, as well as day passes and rental options.

Finally, Chapter 4, “In Grand Style,” will open March 2020, marking the debut of more than 350 shopping experiences – from internationally renowned luxury houses Hermès, Dolce & Gabbana, Saint Laurent and Moncler, to iconic American specialty retailers like Saks Fifth Avenue and Tiffany & Co., plus the fast-fashion favorites, Zara, H&M, Uniqlo and Primark.

Chapter 4 will also feature over 100 curated dining destinations – ranging from casual to memorable experiences from the world’s most celebrated chefs. These experiences will be joined by Merlin Entertainments’ Sea Life Aquarium and Legoland Discovery Center, CMX Luxury Movie Theater, Kidzania, a 300-foot Observation Wheel, as well as other entertainment; dining; and fashion, art and culture activities all in one destination.
