Water and wastewater utility company American Water announced Monday that it has completed its acquisition of investor-owned wastewater utility Environmental Disposal Corporation.Voorhees-based American Water said in a news release that it has acquired all of the issued and outstanding capital stock of EDC, which provides wastewater service to more than 5,300 customer accounts in Bedminster and Bernards Township.
EDC also provides wastewater treatment service to Far Hills, Peapack, Gladstone and portions of Bedminster through long-term contracts, American Water added.
“American Water welcomes our new customers and we are committed to providing a seamless transition for them,” Susan Story, CEO and president of American Water, said in a prepared statement. “Our operational and engineering expertise, familiarity with the service territory and dedication to customer service, as well as our commitment to make the necessary capital investments to meet or surpass state and federal standards, will ensure that these new customers will continue to receive exceptional wastewater service.”
EDC began operation in the 1980s, serving customers in The Hills development in Bedminster and Bernards.
