On Thursday, American Water announced Cheryl Norton as president of New Jersey American Water and senior vice president of the American Water’s Eastern Division, effective March 25. The Camden-based utility also revealed the recent naming of Kevin Kirwan to chief environmental officer.
Norton replaces Deborah Degillio, who will assume the role of chief customer officer for the organization.
Norton began her career with American Water in 1988 as a research technician. She has since held roles including vice president of operations for Illinois American Water, president of Kentucky American Water, and most recently president of Missouri American Water – the company’s the company’s third largest state, serving 1.5 million people.
Kirwan has been with the company for 34 years, American Water said, holding positions including water production superintendent, director of maintenance services, senior director of operations for coastal New Jersey and vice president of Operations for New Jersey American Water. Most recently, he served as vice president of operational excellence for American Water.
New Jersey American Water, a subsidiary of American Water, is the largest investor-owned water utility in the state, providing water and wastewater services to about 2.7 million people.
