Crystal Springs Resort in Hamburg said Monday it is poised to record its greatest summer leisure demand, due largely to sweeping upgrades at its AAA four-diamond Grand Cascades Lodge, as well as a shift in travel behavior resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.
The hotel’s makeover debut coincided with its reopening after closure due to the global virus.
The Resort collaborated with Manhattan-based firm INC Architecture & Design, which deployed its expertise for high-profile hospitality projects including the Wine Spectator Grand Award-winning Restaurant Latour at Crystal Springs.
The Resort opted to limit occupancy at both Grand Cascades Lodge and sister property Minerals Hotel to allow for mandated social distancing while at the same time ensuring that guests had ample access to its first-rate amenities.

This capacity reduction led to both an elevated customer experience and the resort’s ability to increase its average daily rate.
“We’re thrilled at the heightened interest we experienced for our summer stays,” Chris Mulvihill, chief marketing officer of Crystal Springs Resort, said in a prepared statement. “The scenario of having the opportunity to renovate and approach sell-out every day in a safe and responsible environment was very encouraging to our bottom line”.
Mulvihill continued: “Ironically, the COVID-19 challenge actually increased our hotel demand given our proximity as the closest high-end resort to the world’s largest luxury feeder market.”
With regard to the new virus response protocols implemented, Crystal Springs said it worked hard to not only be compliant with the governor’s executive orders, but to also provide guests, employees and the community reassurance it is looking after their welfare, while still providing visitors with a world-class experience.
