Now in its 99th year, the annual New Jersey League of Municipalities conference will kick off Tuesday at the Atlantic City Convention Center. This year’s event, which will last through Thursday, will have a theme of “partnerships for prosperity.” On average, more than 17,000 people attend the conference, according to the League.
Included in this year’s program are panels dedicated to sustainability, downtown revitalization, the Council on Affordable Housing, public-private partnerships and a roundtable of former governors discussing Gov. Chris Christie’s second term. The Assembly Transportation and Independent Authorities Committee will also officially meet at the conference on Thursday morning to further discuss matters pertaining to the Transportation Trust Fund.
As is tradition, some of the state’s top political figures will host parties during the evenings of the conference days at various locations across Atlantic City. Among those hosting parties this year include Newark Mayor Ras Baraka, Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop, Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto, Assembly Majority Leader Lou Greenwald and former U.S. Ambassador to Germany and potential future gubernatorial candidate Phil Murphy.
