Arctic Glacier, a producer and distributor of packaged ice products, said Thursday it acquired Superior Ice Co. Inc. of Indianapolis, Ind., strengthening its rapidly expanding presence in the Midwest.
In December, Montclair-based Arctic Glacier acquired two Bedford, Ind. companies – Cosner Ice Co. Inc. and Cosner Transportation LLC – and now the merging of the two businesses makes perfect sense, according to Superior Ice President Blaine Lannan. The transaction with Superior Ice will greatly increase service capacity in Indiana and expands Arctic Glacier’s delivery footprint.
Financial terms of the private transaction were not disclosed.
Arctic Glacier operates 49 production plants and 49 distribution facilities across Canada and the northeastern, central and western United States servicing more than 75,000 retail accounts.
“The acquisition of Superior, combined with our new Kansas City super-plant, the industry’s most advanced state-of-the-art premium quality ice production facility, and the recent acquisition of Cosner Ice in December 2019, demonstrates our clear commitment to providing the necessary resources to better support our customers in the marketplace,” Arctic Glacier Chief Executive Officer Richard Wyckoff said.
