AT&T granted $100,000 to the New Jersey Restaurant and Hospitality Association to be doled out to restaurants locally who will then provide meals to personnel working at field hospitals in the Meadowlands Exposition Center in Secaucus and the New Jersey Convention and Exposition Center in Edison.
“This allows restaurants to do what they do best: feed the community while giving them the financial resources to do so,” said NJRHA President Marilou Halvorsen in a statement. “This also has the added benefit of helping to keep some of our restaurant employees working.”
The United Way of Essex and West Hudson’s Community COVID-19 Fund received an additional $35,000 from AT&T and $15,000 from the AT&T Foundation, for $50,000 total, to provide food and basic needs for residents impacted by COVID-19 in Newark.
“One of AT&T’s core values is to be there when people need us,” said AT&T New Jersey President Charlene Brown in a statement. “We’re glad that we could team up with NJRHA and the United Way to help our neighbors during this time of extraordinary need.”
Subaru of America, in partnership with Feeding America, will help provide 50 million meals to folks in need during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“In these trying times we all search for stability in our daily lives,” said Suburu of American President and CEO Thomas Doll in a statement. “We hope that through this donation to Feeding America, we can provide the comfort and stability of a meal for people who struggle with hunger in America. We must all stay safe but remember to help others where we can.”
Before the onset of COVID-19, hunger already affected 37 million Americans. As millions of people are unemployed, difficulty purchasing food results in an increased reliance on food banks. Subaru’s $5 million donation will cover 50 million meals at hundreds of food banks nationwide.
