The two companies form an alliance to market and develop products for the convergence market.Avaya (NYSE: AV) in Basking Ridge, a business-communications services provider, has formed a strategic alliance with South KoreaÂs Samsung Electronics to develop and market Internet protocol (IP)-based communications for businesses around the world. By revenue, Samsung is the largest technology company in Asia.
Under the agreement, the two companies will market and jointly develop products designed to combine voice, data and video communications. At the initial stage, Samsung, which markets telecom systems and handsets, will also market and resell AvayaÂs contact center and IP-telephony solutions to customers in South Korea, its home market.
Avaya shares were down $0.01 to $11.01 in morning trading.
