Axia Women’s Health, one of the largest independent women’s health groups in the U.S., announced June 7 that Dr. Gaurov Dayal was named as its new CEO.
Dayal, who was appointed to the Axia board of directors earlier this year, will take the reins from Charlie Choi, who has led Axia since 2017. Choi will remain with the company as an adviser through the leadership transition.
The new CEO joins the Voorhees-based company from Denver’s Everside Health, one of the largest direct primary care providers in the U.S., with almost 400 clinics across 34 states, where he served as president and chief operating officer, according to the hiring announcement. He also held senior leadership roles for the past 15 years at ChenMed, SSM Healthcare and Adventist Health Care, and he was the founder and physician at a pediatric hospitalist group.
“Dr. Dayal is a nationally recognized physician leader, with significant expertise in value-based health care and a strong track record of running and rapidly growing national medical groups,” said Eileen Auen, Axia’s lead independent director, said in a statement.
Auen added that Dayal brings “the perfect mix of experience to lead Axia forward.”
Axia has partnered with more than 80 care centers in 200 locations, serving more than 500,000 patients a year. Its centers offering a wide range of care, including obstetrics, gynecology, laboratory, mammography, urogynecology, fertility and other sub-specialties. Most recently in New Jersey, Axia opened a walk-in clinic, Access Now, May 17 in Sewell.
Dayal said he was “honored” to take on the new role and said he looks forward to working with the team “to achieve our mission to create a more caring, connected and progressive women’s healthcare community.”
