DeMartino will report to Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Chris DelOrefice. She succeeds Kristen Stewart in the role, who was named senior vice president of enterprise strategy and insights at the company. The global medical technology company announced her appointment on Nov. 24.

As senior vice president of investor relations, DeMartino will take the lead in communicating progress of the company’s BD2025 strategy to investors and the financial community, including initiatives that drive shareholder value.

DeMartino brings more than 20 years of experience across investor relations, communications and corporate finance to the role, BD said, most recently serving as vice president of investor relations for Medtronic.

While there, the department was awarded “IR Magazine’s” honors for Best Overall Investor Relations and Best Investor Relations in Health Care.

“Francesca is an accomplished leader with a long track record of success in investor relations, including extensive experience in the medical technology industry,” said DelOrefice. “She will lead BD’s efforts to highlight key milestones as we deliver on our strategy to drive growth through innovation.”

Prior to Medtronic, she served as vice president of corporate communications and vice president of global communications for the Diabetes Group. Other career experience includes positions of increasing responsibility at Johnson & Johnson, OMRIX Biopharmaceuticals, Macrocure Ltd. GCI Group and The Ruth Group. She started her career as a Health Care Investment Banking Group financial analyst at Deutsche Bank AG.
