The Borgata in Atlantic City is donating a combined $89,500 to seven nonprofits across its namesake city, according to a July 26 announcement from its parent company, MGM Resorts.
“For over a year, our communities nationwide have experienced beyond extraordinary struggles,” reads a statement from Melonie Johnson, the president and chief operating officer at Borgata AC. “There is no greater time to demonstrate the meaning of community.”
One recipient is the AtlantiCare Foundation, a philanthropic arm of the AtlantiCare health network in Atlantic City. Another is the Community Food Bank of New Jersey, which serves residents in 11 counties, and another is Covenant House New Jersey, which provides housing for at-risk youth.
A fourth recipient is the Gateway Community Action Partnership in South Jersey, which provides support services for low-and-moderate-income area residents.
The Boys and Girls Club of Atlantic City – a youth service organization in the area – will receive support, as will the area woman’s shelter AVANZAR and the Atlantic Community College Foundation.
