The Burlington County COVID-19 Vaccine Mega-Site will reopen next week, this time in a space previously occupied by an A.C. Moore craft store.
On Dec. 2, Virtua Health announced the Mount Laurel location will open on Dec. 7 in response to widening eligibility for COVID-19 boosters, but will serve anyone eligible including those in need of a first shot.
The vaccine is free to recipients and health insurance is not required. It is available to: people ages 12 and older who are not yet vaccinated, adults eligible for a vaccine booster, and children ages 5 to 11.
According to a statement from New Jersey Health Commissioner Judith Persichilli, the site – run jointly by Virtua, Burlington County and the New Jersey National Guard – has the ability to scale up as needed.
“Nearly 400,000 doses of vaccine were administered at the first mega-site. It was a shining example of what all levels of government can accomplish with businesses and nonprofits when we work together, and we expect the same success with this new version,” said Burlington County Commissioner Director Felicia Hopson. “With all adults now eligible for boosters and young children for low-dose shots, we’re thrilled to partner with Virtua and the State of New Jersey again to provide an easy-access location for vaccinations.”
Pfizer doses will be the primary offering to people seeking a booster.
The mega-site, located at East Gate Square shopping center on Nixon Drive and nearly adjacent to Moorestown Mall, had a soft opening on Nov. 30. It will be open Tuesdays through Saturdays with varying hours of operation. Scheduling an appointment ahead of time is strongly encouraged; walk-up vaccinations will be available in limited quantities.
