Burlington Stores Inc. named former Ross executive Travis Marquette chief operating officer, effective Oct. 4.
A July 15 Securities and Exchange Commission filing followed a July 12 agreement between Burlington and Marquette to commence employment, two days before retailer Ross announced his departure.
Marquette has worked in the off-price retailer market for nearly 14 years, serving in a wide range of strategic, operational, and financial roles.
He joined Ross as director of strategic planning in 2008 and rose through the ranks, next as vice president of store operations finance from 2009 to 2013, as group vice president of store operations from 2013 to 2015, as senior vice president of store operations from 2015 to 2017, as senior vice president of finance from 2017 to 2018, as group senior vice president and deputy chief financial officer from 2018 to 2019, as senior vice president and chief financial officer from 2019 to 2021, until his most recent role as executive vice president and chief financial officer from March 2021.
Prior to his time at Ross, he held roles as Bain & Co., Carter’s Inc., and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Marquette replaces Burlington‘s former COO Fred Hand, who transitioned to the chief executive officer role at off-price retailer Tuesday Morning in May.
A representative for Burlington did not return a request for further comment by press time.
