Off-price retailer Burlington Stores will open a 46,000-square-foot location at Somerville Circle Shopping Center in Raritan in 2020.
It will occupy a space formerly occupied by Toys R Us and Babies R Us in the shopping center anchored by Staples, Petco and P.C. Richard & Son.
“Off-price retailers are thriving in the current marketplace, and Burlington – which is aggressively expanding its footprint – is no exception,” said Levin Management Co. senior leasing representative Vanessa Fernandez-Kelty, who arranged the lease.
Burlington Stores, which is based in the town of the same name, operates approximately 690 stores in 45 states and Puerto Rico.
“Burlington is a terrific anchor addition for this property, which is an established ‘one-stop’ shopping destination for regional consumers,” Fernandez-Kelty said in a statement. “This is a great example of our efforts not just to fill space, but to fill space with the right tenant – one that complements its co-tenancy and adds to a property’s dynamic.”
Somerville Circle, which has other retailers and eateries including Carter’s, Jersey Mike’s, Panera Bread, Burger King, Five Below and Harmon Discount, is now near full occupancy. One 3,000-square-foot space remains.
Burlington Stores’ opening is set for spring.
