Jacobs Engineering Group Inc., of Pasadena, said in a news release that it will supervise three contracts covering three continuous sections of the Parkway. Construction is beginning immediately and expected to run through February 2018.
“We are proud to continue our relationship with NJTA and are committed to helping them achieve their capital investment goals,” Jacobs Vice President Randy Pierce said in the release. “Our highly skilled and experienced team is delighted to be working on this significant Garden State Parkway project that aims to deliver a more efficient and reliable roadway in this vital part of the region’s transportation network.”

The project will widen the Garden State Parkway, adding a third travel lane in each direction along a 13-mile stretch of the highway. Work includes the construction of five new bridges, widening or repairing 11 existing bridges and removing several existing bridges and decks, Jacobs said. The work will also include the construction, extension or widening of culverts and headwalls, drainage improvements, water management work, striping and signage, and more.
Jacobs said this represents one of the largest construction services contracts ever awarded by the Turnpike Authority.
