“Campbell is proud to be representing the state of New Jersey at the White House’s ‘Made in America’ expo in Washington, D.C.,” company spokesman Thomas Hushen said. “Campbell manufacturing and government affairs representatives will be in attendance (as we) highlight Campbell’s condensed soups, Pepperidge Farm Milano cookies, Pace salsa, Prego pasta sauce and Pepperidge Farm bread.”
The event, which will feature items created in each of the 50 states, is part of the “Made in America” week at the White House designed to promote U.S.-made products. President Donald Trump is expected to issue a declaration Wednesday.
“This week, the Trump administration will honor the amazing American workers and companies who have products that are made in America,” Helen Ferre, the White House’s director of media affairs, told reporters at a briefing Sunday.
Trump previously met with Denise Morrison, CEO of Campbell Soup, in February, when she was invited to the White House State Dining Room to discuss American manufacturing with more than two dozen fellow manufacturing executives, including Kenneth Frazier, chairman and CEO of Merck, and Alex Gorsky, CEO of Johnson & Johnson.
Morrison serves on Trump’s Manufacturing Jobs initiative despite publicly differing viewpoints.
In a corporate statement in June, for instance, Campbell said it “will continue to take action to address climate change” in light of Trump’s announcement that the U.S. would leave the Paris Climate Accord.
