Cannabis science and technology company Steep Hill announced Tuesday plans to open a regulatory testing facility in New Jersey by the end of the third quarter of this year.
Steep Hill was founded in 2008 in California and currently operates in states across the country including Maryland and Pennsylvania. The company focuses on testing and analyzing medical and adult-use cannabis to ensure compliance with public safety.
“We are excited to bring our focus of service, accuracy, and scientific knowledge and expertise to the New Jersey market,” said Shannon Hoffman, director of operations at Steep Hill New Jersey, in a statement. “We look forward to serving the licensed producers, the patient community, and hopefully soon, the adult-use consumer.”
The announcement comes one day after adult-use cannabis legislation passed in the Assembly and Senate judiciary committees. It’s now set for a full floor vote on March 25.
Steep Hill NJ is currently working to obtain local permits in partnership with Green Analytics East. Testing regulations for independent testing laboratories in New Jersey have not yet been published.
