After being named the first female president of the trade association for the state’s casinos in April, former Ocean Casino Resort CEO Terry Glebocki stepped down from both her role with the group, and with Ocean, in October. Now, a new Atlantic City leader is ready to “rock” at the head of the group.
On Nov. 2, the Casino Association of New Jersey announced Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City President Joe Lupo was selected by the group’s membership to serve as president.
“I am honored to succeed Terry Glebocki as the next president of the Casino Association of New Jersey. Terry did a great job as a leader and we are grateful for her meaningful contributions to the industry,” Lupo said in a statement. “I am prepared to lead the CANJ forward as we work to reinvigorate Atlantic City.
“Our industry is invested in this community, and we believe with continued hard work and determination, Atlantic City’s best days lie ahead,” he said.
According to CANJ, Lupo has 35 years of experience in the industry and has led Hard Rock AC since 2018; he joined Hard Rock International in 2016.
Lupo was previously president of the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Tampa, Fla. and also spent more than 30 years with Boyd Gaming, during which time he was a senior executive at the Borgata Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City for 13 years and helped to launch the resort when it opened in 2003, CANJ said.
The Casino Association of New Jersey’s membership includes Bally’s Atlantic City, Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, Caesars Atlantic City, Golden Nugget Atlantic City, Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City, Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City, Ocean Casino Resort, Resorts Casino Hotel and Tropicana Atlantic City.
