Gov. Chris Christie is set to announce new FEMA flood map regulations this afternoon during a tour of Seaside Heights.
Christie will hold a 3 p.m. news conference at the Seaside Heights Fire Department. The popular shore destination was one of the areas hit hardest by Hurricane Sandy.
The regulations will provide direction as shore communities rebuild from the storm. It will be the second time in as many days the administration has set out new post-Sandy guidelines.
The Board of Public Utilities on Wednesday approved 103 storm-response regulations for the state’s utilities. The regulations were largely the result of a study commissioned by the board in the wake of slow responses to 2011’s Hurricane Irene and October snowstorm.
The regulations call for utilities to provide power restoration time estimates and set up municipality-specific web pages to update residents. Utilities will also be requires to set up substation protection plans and emergency response plans.
