Biomedical research facility, pharma partnership, industrial real estate acquisition

Health care solutions provider Merck & Co., in the Whitehouse Station section of Readington, announced Thursday a partnership with academic scientists and biotechnology entrepreneurs to create the California Institute for Biomedical Research, a nonprofit established to use biomedical research to create new medicines. Merck will provide funding of up to $90 million over seven years.

Zhejiang Hisun Pharmaceuticals Inc., which has an office in Princeton, and Piedmont Pharmaceuticals LLC, in Greensboro, N.C., announced Thursday a joint agreement to develop animal health pharmaceuticals for worldwide markets.

Monmouth Real Estate Investment Corp., in Freehold, announced Thursday that it acquired a 234,660-square-foot industrial building leased to Anda Pharmaceuticals Inc., in Olive Branch, Miss., for $16.2 million.
