Biz BriefsShort Hills developer Zygmunt (Zygi) Wilf is the new owner of the Minnesota Vikings. Two weeks ago Wilf paid $600 million for the National Football League franchise. Former owner Red McComade a handsome profit on the deal, having paid $254 million for the team seven years ago.
Wilf?s family owns Garden Homes, a developer of upscale residential properties, as well as shopping mall developer Garden Commercial Properties.
First on Wilf?s agenda will be a new stadium for the Vikings. He has begun visiting with landowners in the Minneapolis area and is said to prefer an open-air stadium to create a cold-weather, home-field advantage for the team, which now plays under a dome.
Wilf and his family are long-time football fans. They have had season tickets to Giants games since the 1960s and a luxury suite at Giants Stadium since 1992.
