Digital Prime Technologies announced April 14 that financial industry veteran Mark Spelker has joined the Jersey City-based company as chief financial officer.
Spelker’s extensive background covers financial reporting, SEC compliance and financing activities. Previously, he served as executive vice president and chief financial officer of Innodata Inc. He also was an audit partner and national director of SEC services at national accounting firm CohnReznick LLP for 20 years and spent 15 years between KPMG LLP and PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP.
“Mark brings a needed expertise as a growing company in a dynamic sector,” James Runnels, co-founder and CEO of DPT, said in a statement. “He will be instrumental in helping us develop the company strategically as well as ensuring sound financial reporting, audit coordination, and future financing activities.”
DPT has been expanding its executive team in recent months, including the addition of Chief Operating Officer Robert Sherry in January. Sherry joined DPT from Maybank Kim Eng, where he led its U.S. prime brokerage business. Sherry had also served as senior managing director and chief operation officer of Cantor Fitzgerald’s prime services business.
The company — which provides prime brokerage technology solutions for financial institutions entering the crypto and digital asset space — also announced April 14 that it had closed a second investment from New York Investment bank Cowen Inc.; Cowen’s first investment in the company was in November 2021. Details of the investments were not disclosed.
