Around the State – North JerseyWEEHAWKEN The $44 million Port Imperial Ferry Terminal opened last week. The new facility can handle as many as 12,000 passengers an hour, twice that of the old terminal that is about a quarter of a mile away. The Federal Highway Authority is paying $500,000 of the terminals’ total cost, while the rest will come out of state money.

NY Waterway has agreed to lease the terminal from NJ Transit for the next 32 years at $200,000 a year. NY Waterway will also pay the agency 21¢ per passenger.
