Work is underway on a project that will bring a modern logistics warehouse to Central Jersey.
Duke Realty said Feb. 22 that it started construction on a 216,892-square-foot speculative development in Piscataway situated on a 21-acre site.
The facility at 1570 S. Washington Ave. offers immediate access to Interstate 287 and is 6 miles from Interstate 95 and Exit 10 of the New Jersey Turnpike.
“This latest development will provide the ideal space for companies looking to expand their supply chain in the New York metropolitan area with access to millions of consumers and critical ports,” Ben Rosen, vice president of development and leasing in New Jersey for Duke Realty, said in a statement. “This is our third development in Piscataway Township and we greatly appreciate the Township’s efforts to make this development possible.”
Last month, the company announced it acquired Kiss Nail Inc.’s 469,000-square-foot distribution center in the township, bringing its Garden State footprint to 9.6 million square feet, according to Duke.
The new Piscataway property, which is being built to LEED certification standards, will offer 40-foot clear heights, 34 dock doors, 38 trailer spaces and parking for 125 cars. Completion is anticipated for the fall.
The New Jersey industrial market continues to experience sustained demand, and record-low vacancy rates. Because of those factors, Rosen said that “[f]inding strategically located sites and moving quickly on developments is key to giving our clients the space they need right now.
“Duke Realty continues to invest in expanding our New Jersey portfolio with high-quality facilities that support our reputation,” he added.
