Entrepreneur Vaynerchuk acquires women’s lifestyle publisher

Gary Vaynerchuk, the entrepreneur who first attracted notice as the head of the Springfield-based Wine Library, has acquired women’s lifestyle media brand PureWow through his New York-based VaynerX holding company, the company confirmed Thursday.Vaynerchuk, along with business partners Stephen Ross and RSE Ventures, acquired the New York-based publishing platform for an undisclosed amount, according to a statement issued Thursday.

PureWow will become part of a new company called The Gallery, a sister company to Vaynerchuk’s digital media agency, VaynerMedia. PureWow’s founding CEO, Ryan Harwood, will take over as CEO of The Gallery.

VaynerMedia said Vaynerchuk and Harwood intend to grow The Gallery buy acquiring additional media properties.

PureWow, founded in 2010, has 67 employees in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago. VaynerMedia, founded in 2009, has more than 700 employees in six offices nationally and in London.
