Coughlin Duffy LLP has added two attorneys with a combined 50 years of experience in employment and labor law.
On Thursday the firm, with offices in Morristown and New York City, announced that father-son duo Paul and Joshua Weiner have joined as special counsel to the firm, and partner and chair of the Employment and Labor Practice Group, respectively.
Both join the firm from Budd Larner PC where Joshua served as chair of the Employment and Labor Law Practice Group and the litigation division, while Paul served as counsel and private and court mediator.
Joshua and Paul represent small to large companies for employment law needs including litigated matters, administrative and arbitration proceedings, employment law preventative practices and audits, labor union law disputes, wage and hour claims, and management training, according to Coughlin Duffy.
At the firm, Paul’s practice will focus on employment and labor law, OSHA and private and court mediation.
“Coughlin Duffy is proud to welcome Joshua and Paul to our growing team of talented attorneys and is pleased to add employment and labor to the list of services we are able to provide our clients,” Coughlin Duffy Managing Partner Suzanne Midlige said in a prepared statement. “Both Joshua and Paul have been recognized and admired for their many achievements and exceptional expertise. We are confident that they will each contribute to the Firm’s strength of providing the highest quality legal services and value to our clients.”
The Weiner’s addition at Coughlin Duffy marks yet another departure from Budd Larner, which has experienced a string of exits recently including the move by two attorneys to Norris McLaughlin, the exit of its 19-member intellectual property practice’s to Windels Marx Lane & Mittendorf LLP, and James Fitzsimmon’s move to Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP.
Budd Larner also had the biggest decline on NJBIZ’s Top 50 Law Firm’s list this year, falling 13 spots from 23 to 36 with the loss of 20 attorneys, many of whom left with former managing partner and executive committee member Joseph Schiavone, who joined Saiber LLC’s insurance and reinsurance group in September 2018.F
