Monmouth Medical Center’s new outpatient facility at the Monmouth Mall in Eatontown is still under construction, but it has a brand new name, courtesy of a donation from local philanthropist Sheldon Vogel.

The Anne Vogel Family Care and Wellness Center – set to open its doors in March – is named for Vogel’s late wife, Anne, following a $10 million naming gift from the former chief financial officer for Atlantic Records.
The RWJBarnabas Health facility announced the gift on Feb. 22.
“We are so grateful to Sheldon for his continued generosity, and we are honored to pioneer the future of health care in our region in Anne Vogel’s name,” said MMC President and CEO Eric Carney, who also holds that title with Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus (MMCSC) in Lakewood, in a statement.
In 2020, the Vogels donated $50 million to the hospital to establish the Vogel Medical Campus in Tinton Falls, which is under development as well, 3 miles from the Anne Vogel Family Care & Wellness Center.
Both Sheldon and Anne Vogel have ties to the Long Branch community and both were born at Monmouth Medical Center.
Soul food
In Eatontown, the new 82,000-square-foot center will include a demonstration kitchen with a full-time dietitian.
In another connection to the music world, Regional Vice President of Development for MMC and MMCS Caitlin Olson said the center will also feature programming named for Dorthea and Jon Bon Jovi.
“We know from working with JBJ Soul Kitchen that they are very focused on addressing food insecurity, nutrition education, mental health and homelessness, and we are so grateful to them for their partnership as this aligns directly with our values and our mission to improve the health of our communities,” she says.
Nonprofit community restaurant JBJ Soul Kitchen in Red Bank and Toms River is run by the Jon Bon Jovi Soul Foundation.
According to a statement from the Bon Jovis, the programs will center on teaching cooking skills and healthy eating habits.
In addition to the wellness center and demo kitchen, the Anne Vogel Family Care and Wellness Center will also include:
- Pediatric subspecialists in cardiology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, pulmonology and infectious diseases through the Unterberg Children’s Hospital at Monmouth Medical Center.
- Children’s Specialized Hospital programs in pediatric medical services, including neurology, psychiatry and physiatry; as well as therapeutic services, including audiology, psychology and physical, speech and occupational therapy.
- Comprehensive women’s services, including maternal/fetal medicine and a breastfeeding center.
- MMC’s Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMAD) Center and Bariatric Surgery and GI Disorders Center.
- A blood drawing station; and
- An Urgent Care Center.
“The new center is truly providing extraordinary care close to home and perfectly honors Anne’s caring and giving nature,” said Bill Arnold, president, RWJBarnabas Health Southern Region and president and CEO, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, in a statement. “We can’t thank Sheldon enough for helping RWJBarnabas Health advance its mission of ensuring our communities have the means and ability to live healthier, more fulfilling lives.
“We are also so grateful to Dorothea and Jon Bon Jovi for helping us pair world class health care with healthy eating through the exciting Dorothea and Jon Bon Jovi programs,” he added.
