The nation’s only U.S. Department of Agriculture-certified organic juice bar franchise will open its first New Jersey location in December, and it’s owned by a famous face, Super Bowl champion and 11-year National Football League vet David Tyree.
Clean Juice, headquartered in Charlotte, opened its first location three years ago and has expanded to 77 stores nationwide. Tyree’s Morristown location will add to that list and New Jersey will be the company’s 23rd state overall.
Tyree will open Clean Juice with his wife, Leilah.
“We believe that physical and spiritual health are essential to one’s quality of life, so we’re happy to partner with a brand that truly believes the same thing,” Tyree said in a statement.
Tyree is best known for his “helmet catch” play near the end of Super Bowl XLII in 2008, where Giants quarterback Eli Manning threw him a pass that he caught against his head to maintain control. Fox Sports calls it the fourth-best play in Super Bowl history.
Clean Juice has landed on a couple lists itself recently, ranking No. 431 on the 2019 Inc. 5000 annual list of America’s fastest-growing private companies, being named a Top New Franchise from Entrepreneur magazine and a Top 100 Movers & Shaker by FastCasual.com earlier this year.
Clean Juice co-founder and chief executive Landon Eckles is proud of the brand’s growth, and proud of who it aligns with.
“We are incredibly blessed to have David and his lovely wife Leilah become a part of our Clean Juice family, not just because of his on-field accolades and selfless reputation, but because of their shared commitment to our mission, core values and of course, premium organic products,” said Eckles in a statement. “While we’re proud to open a location in New Jersey, it’s more important that we have added new family members who truly embody our ‘healthy in body and strong in spirit’ mantra.”
Clean Juice’s menu includes organic cold-pressed juices, smoothies, açaí bowls and a recently expanded toast product line, all made fresh in front of guests.
By year’s end, the company expects to have approximately 100 locations. Tyree’s Morristown outlet is still being built.
