Former top Pru communications exec joins Zito Partners

Bob DeFillippo, who retired as Prudential Financial’s chief communications officer earlier this year, has joined the Zito Partners public relations and marketing communications firm, it announced Tuesday.DeFillippo, who has more than 40 years of communications and public policy experience, will serve in a senior consulting role for the Warren-based firm and consult with clients through Zito Partners’ joint venture with Ketchum, known as Ketchum Zito Financial.

“Bob is a seasoned leader with tremendous expertise in public affairs and communications strategy and issues,” Robert Zito, founder of Zito Partners, said in a prepared statement. “His knowledge and experience will bring immediate value to our team, partners and clients. We’re thrilled to welcome him aboard.”

DeFillippo most recently led the global communications department at Prudential Financial, overseeing public relations and internal communications for the Newark-based financial services firm. He has also served as director of public affairs for AARP and has worked as a press secretary, reporter and editor.

“Joining the Zito Partners and Ketchum Zito Financial teams and supporting their diverse group of clients will be exciting,” he said in a statement. “The strategy and execution initiatives the team has built for its clients have been spot on, and I’m ready to hit the ground running and contribute immediately.”
