Franklin Electric Company to Move to New Jersey

Franklin will be relocating its headquarters and 45 employees to 10 Twosome Drive in Moorestown, and plans to add an additional five jobs after the move, the company has told NJBIZ. Franklin purchased the 44,000-square-foot facility, which has office, industrial and retail space, in the spring of 2007. The company said it is currently renovating the space for an expected move in April.

Franklin’s history in Philadelphia dates back to the 1920s, when it was founded by William T. Walker. Since the 1960s, the family-owned business has operated out of 1511-37 N. 26th St., where it utilizes 35,000 square feet in a 95,000-square-foot building. “We’ve outgrown the space,” says Lindsay Walker, human resources manager at Franklin, but notes the company plans to hold onto the property after its move to Moorestown.

Walker says Franklin chose the Moorestown location because it would enable the company to maintain its market in Philadelphia while also allowing it to open several new markets in New Jersey. “The building gave us ample opportunities to expand in the future,” says Walker.

For its location to New Jersey, Franklin received a 10-year, $424,000 BEIP grant, as well as a low-interest loan from the Burlington County Department of Economic Development and Regional Planning.
