Following a 10-year career at the South Mountain YMCA in Maplewood, Brielle Winslow-Majette joined Garden State Equality as its new deputy director, the organization announced March 14.
In the new position, Winslow-Majette will serve as a key partner to Executive Director Christian Fuscarino, Garden State Equality said, along with its board.
She will help to develop, implement and refine the long-term vision of the state’s largest LGBTQ+ advocacy organization, while also ensuring effective day-to-day operations, overseeing human resources, supervision, program management and finance.
“We are so excited to bring Brielle on board,” Fuscarino said in a prepared statement. “Her extensive experience developing programs that meet community needs – especially for young people – will be invaluable to Garden State Equality as we continue our efforts to ensure lived equality for all LGBTQ+ New Jerseyans.”
Winslow-Majette brings experience with developing and facilitating training programs throughout the state, along with a passions for professional and youth development, GSE said.
She succeeds Alisha DeLorezno, who previously served as interim deputy director and now leads GSE’s adverse childhood experience work throughout the state.
“I have always dreamed of working for an organization like Garden State Equality,” Winslow-Majette said. “I know what it is like to walk into spaces that were not created for me, and I now have the opportunity to continue to shatter glass ceilings for those who are walking in my same shoes while being fully dedicated to cultivating programs and creating opportunities for us, by us.”
