Gloucester County newspaper publisher consolidating operations

South Jersey Media Group, the publisher of the South Jersey Times newspaper, announced Friday that it is consolidating its offices in Harrison Township. Two years ago, the company merged its three daily newspapers — known as the Gloucester County Times, Today’s Sunbeam and The News of Cumberland County — into the South Jersey Times, it said in a news report. However, it had remained in buildings in Woodbury and Salem while attempting to consolidate its operations into one space.

“Today’s announcement accomplishes that goal and demonstrates a renewed commitment to our print and digital readers and advertisers, and all of the communities we serve,” Joseph P. Owens, publisher and executive editor, said in a statement.

The new location of the publishing company is at Mullica Hill Commons on Route 77 in the Mullica Hill section of the Gloucester County township. It will be home to editorial and advertising staff, among others.

“Our company’s investment in South Jersey has never been more evident,” Owens said. “… This commitment to our new headquarters demonstrates further dedication to our long-established relationship with our communities.”

The report in the South Jersey Times said its parent will sell its buildings at 309 S. Broad St. in Woodbury and 93 Fifth St. in Salem. They will remain as distribution hubs until a central distribution center is found, it added.
