Soundview Paper Co. and St. Joseph’s Health announced Thursday the creation of a GoFundMe page dedicated to aiding displaced Marcal employees. The page is being launched in partnership with Marcal’s owners, Atlas Holdings.
“Marcal Paper has not only been a trusted employer and vital New Jersey manufacturer for nearly a century; we have also stayed true to the vision and ideals of our founders by supporting many local nonprofits to make our community a better place” said Rob Baron, Soundview president and CEO, in a joint statement with Kevin Slavin, president and CEO of St. Joseph’s Health.
“St. Joseph’s Health is one of those longtime partners, and we’re grateful that they have joined us and our owners, Atlas Holdings, in creating this GoFundMe page to further assist our associates in need,” said Baron.
“There is no greater pride than helping your own community. We have worked alongside our neighbors Marcal Paper for decades and they have been a long-time supporter of the hospital and our surrounding communities. Joining together with other local businesses and organizations to bring aid to our friends and colleagues at Marcal in their time of need is the right thing to do,” said Slavin.
Marcal’s headquarters in Elmwood Park was destroyed by fire on Jan. 30.
