Looking for a quick way to find your way through Hoboken? Google Maps will begin to display available Lime scooters on Tuesday in over 100 cities, and Hoboken is one of them.
Android users will be able to see if a Lime scooter is available, how long it will take to walk to the scooter, how long the journey to the destination will take, and how much the ride will cost. Apple users will gain access to this feature later in the month.
“This integration will help Hoboken residents unlock an even easier way to explore their cities and reduce commute times,” said Lime’s Senior Director of East Coast Government Relations Phil Jones in a statement. “Lime believes in the gift of time, and our scooters offer a convenient and fun way of cutting through Hoboken congestion. We’re excited that this partnership with Google Maps provides the opportunity for Lime to connect people to their destination faster as scooters continue to become a core part of the transportation ecosystem in the Mile Square City.”
Hoboken’s alternative transportation scooter program launched two months ago. In that time, over 50,000 riders have had over 250,000 Lime scooter trips, saving over 7,000 gallons of gas and over 223,000 pounds of carbon dioxide.
They’ve also covered over 248,000 miles—a feat in the square-mile city.
Now, Google Maps will make the commute more seamless by guiding users directly to available scooters and providing them real-time travel estimates.
“Whether you’re planning your daily commute or traveling to a new city, Google Maps is making it easier to weigh all your transportation options with real-time information,” said Google Maps Project Manager Vishal Dutta in a statement.
