Former federal prosecutor Mary Toscano has joined Greenbaum, Rowe, Smith & Davis LLP as a partner in its Litigation Department, the firm announced March 13.

Toscano will join Christopher Adams as co-chair of Greenbaum Rowe’s Criminal Defense & Regulatory Compliance Practice Group, as well. She will be based in the firm’s Roseland office.

According to the hiring announcement, Toscano focuses on white collar criminal defense, internal corporate investigations and complex civil litigation. She has defended clients in criminal investigations, RICO actions, contract and business disputes, and allegations of legal malpractice.

Toscano joins Greenbaum from Sills Cummis & Gross PC in Newark, according to her LinkedIn profile. Before Sills Cummis, she was an assistant U.S. attorney for nearly 10 years in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of New Jersey, serving in roles such as deputy chief of the Criminal Division from 2018 through 2021. She was also a trial attorney in the U.S. Department of Justice, Criminal Division, for five years.

“Distinguishing herself as a highly respected federal prosecutor, Mary then easily transitioned into a successful leader of the bar in private practice,” Adams said in a statement. “Mary’s skill as a trial lawyer makes her a valued asset to clients across the full scope of the firm’s practice.”

Toscano, who added that she’s “thrilled” to join the Greenbaum team, said, “I’m humbled to serve as co-chair with my longtime colleague Chris Adams and look forward to working with Greenbaum’s many talented lawyers in practice areas that are complementary to our white collar focus.”
