The formation follows the recent expansion of the state’s legal medical marijuana program.

“The cannabis business is a complicated and highly diversified industry requiring a broad array of sophisticated legal skills to address the numerous financial and operational challenges associated with an evolving market sector,” said partner Jack Fersko, chair of the Cannabis Industry Practice Group and co-chair of the firm’s real estate arm, in a statement.

Fersko is joined by 15 other attorneys from the firm’s litigation, real estate, redevelopment and land use, financing, tax and corporate practices. They will assist clients in navigation of the legal cannabis industry, advising on business issues such as banking regulations, commercial transactions, financing and venture capital, licensing and due diligence, and insurance coverage and risk management.
