H2M creates plan for more sustainable Lodi

//August 21, 2009

NULLEngineering and architecture firm H2M said last week that its planning department is developing a sustainability plan for the borough of Lodi — one of the first such plans for a municipality in the state, according to the company.

The plan, which H2M began drafting with a stakeholder’s committee in the borough last spring, covers a variety of issues that include sustainable land use and equitable community, and includes an extensive list of action items to help Lodi become more sustainable, such as building community gardens, using alternative energy and replacing grass lawns with local plants and flowers.

A public hearing was held last month on a draft of the plan, and the final version will be adopted Sept. 9, said Diana Saltel, department manager of land use planning at H2M, whose New Jersey office is in Parsippany. Upon the plan’s adoption, the borough will begin implementing the plan immediately, Saltel said.
