The new chiller is part of $2.6 million in energy efficiency improvements at Hackensack via the PSE&G Hospital Efficiency Program. The chiller and new energy-efficient lighting are expected to save the hospital $429,000 in annual utility bills.
The PSE&G Hospital Efficiency Program is a $129 million initiative to install energy conservation measures at 34 hospitals in New Jersey.
In a statement, Robert Garrett, CEO of Hackensack University Health Network, said, “As a center for public health, our mission must include leading by example and being at the forefront of green practices.”
