Haier America, the U.S. consumer electronics unit of appliance maker Haier Group, has named a new chief information officer, it announced Tuesday.Deanna Johnston will lead the implementation of Haier America’s operational excellence strategy, define business process architecture and translate it into information technology architecture, as well as develop an IT systems improvement plan, the Wayne-based company said in a news release.

Johnston will report to Chief Operating Officer Kevin Dexter.

“I am very pleased to announce that Deanna Johnston has joined Haier America in the newly created role of chief information officer,” Dexter said in a prepared statement. “Deanna will play a key role on our executive team managing our overall operational excellence and developing the architecture for our future technology vision for the company.”

Johnston has more than 20 years of experience in the consumer products, high tech and health care industries, the company said. For the past seven years, she has been CIO for Belkin International, and has also worked for Ingram Micro’s North American business unit and as a consultant for Price Waterhouse and Arthur Anderson.
