The former “Wonder Bread Building,” a symbol of Hoboken’s storied industrial past will soon redefine its residential future as sales will launch in late spring at Wonder Lofts, a new collection of sophisticated loft-style residences and modern amenities.
Wonder Lofts will continue its Clinton Street location’s legacy as a focal point of city life while ushering in a new generation of living in Hoboken. The boutique offering of just 83 residences will feature expansive two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom floor plans, many with dens, with an impressive 1,200 to 2,700 square feet of living space.
Born out of the former Wonder Bread factory, circa 1909, the iconic American classic Wonder Bread was made there during the 1950s and 1960s, the building has been renovated to preserve and restore its original brick detail, archways, high ceilings, large window openings, smokestack and water tower. Dramatically reimagined for residential use, the conversion also showcases such modern additions as a façade of glass and light grey aluminum that add to and accentuate the restored original structure. The community also includes a newly constructed five-story building located across the street which is home to 15 of the residences.
The homes offer contemporary finishes and functionality, including large window façades, smart home entry systems, well-appointed designer kitchens and baths, abundant storage, and walk-in closets. Uniquely, every home includes significant private outdoor space ranging up to 1900 square feet.
Living at Wonder Lofts will include 14,400 square feet of shared indoor and outdoor amenities for an elevated lifestyle. The highest rooftop, with its 360-degree views of the Manhattan skyline, all of Hoboken and beyond, is a landscaped patio lounge featuring an infinity-edge swimming pool with a circular outdoor bar underneath the restored water tower, gas barbeque grills, and abundant dining and lounge seating areas with a fire pit.
An indoor residents’ lounge that opens to a landscaped, outdoor terraced patio and garden features seating areas, a floor-to-ceiling brick, double-faced fireplace, an open concept dining room and entertainment kitchen, and an adjacent billiards room.
Families will appreciate the building’s children’s art center, complete with padded floors, bean bag seating, toys, and a children’s library, while a full gym and fully equipped yoga/Pilates studio will keep residents healthy in body and mind.
The building also boasts of a two-story lobby with an attended concierge, a pet grooming area that will provide a pleasant space for residents to pamper their furry family members, and a secure onsite parking garage with electric car charging stations.
Wonder Lofts places residents in the heart of Hoboken, with its tree-lined streets dotted with historic brownstones, an eclectic offering of neighborhood shops, restaurants and nighttime haunts, numerous parks, heavily landscaped waterfront, and proximity to Manhattan enhanced by PATH and Ferry service.
Hoboken-based MVMK Architecture + Design served as the project architect and Manhattan-based Workshop/APD served as the interior designer. These firms collaborated with an ownership team consisting of Prism Capital Partners, Angelo Gordon, and Parkwood Development and its exclusive sales and marketing agent CORE in creating the vision.
