Anti-glare coating improves light transmittance, energy output.Honeywell International (NYSE: HON), in Morris Township, said Monday its Honeywell Electronic Materials business developed a new anti-reflective material for improving the photovoltaic solar panels.
According to the company, most solar panels lose some 4 percent of potential electricity generation because of glare reflecting off the glass covering.
The transparent liquid-based coating, called Solarc, cuts down glare and increases transmittance of light through the glass covering on solar panels, which boosts the power output. Solarc can be applied to all common types of solar panels, the company said.
