Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey announced its third recognition as a “Military Friendly Employer” and its first recognition as a “Military Spouse Friendly Employer” by Victory Media, publisher of G.I. Companies are assessed on such factors as the strength of company military recruiting efforts, the percentage of new hires with prior military service, retention programs and company policies on National Guard and Reserve service.

“Horizon is grateful to and supportive of all individuals who serve or have served our country with honor and valor, and their families.” said Alison Banks-Moore, chief diversity officer for Horizon. “We are proud to be designated once again as a Military Friendly Employer and excited to be recognized for the first time for our support of military spouses.”

This recognition “is provided to companies enhancing the lives of service members and their spouses through the workplace,” said Sean Collins, vice president of Victory Media and a nine-year Navy veteran. “Horizon’s ongoing commitment to our U.S. Military and the strong ‘force behind the force’ spouse community is clearly demonstrated through the company’s robust recruitment and hiring practices, as well as through their leave policies and support groups.”
