Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey received the highest consumer satisfaction rating among the state’s commercial health plans, according to consumer data analytics company J.D. Power.
Horizon said the ranking marked the third time in four years it topped the list, receiving the highest rating in 2017 and 2018.
The J.D. Power 2020 U.S. Commercial Member Health Plan Study was prepared based on responses from 31,283 members in 149 health plans around the country. The survey was conducted from January through March.
“There is no greater achievement for a health insurer than to meet and even exceed our members’ expectations for coverage and service excellence,” said Gary St. Hilaire, Horizon’s president and chief executive officer, in a statement. “With diligence and commitment, every individual on the Horizon team strives to deliver on our promise to help our members achieve their best health.”
St. Hilaire replaced Kevin Conlin as CEO of the Newark-based insurer in April.
“As health care becomes more complex, Horizon is streamlining and simplifying the health care experience so our members can more easily and conveniently access the care and services they need,” said Mark Barnard, executive vice president for government programs and operations for Horizon. “By collaborating with our network of providers, we are able to deliver to our members higher quality and more personalized care that can also reduce their overall health care costs,” he said.
