Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey won a 2015 Digital Edge 25 award, it announced Friday, honored for its use of technology to give achieve competitive success.The award, presented to Horizon BCBSNJ by IDG Enterprise media brands CIO and Computerworld, as well as the CIO Executive Council, reflected its integration of mobile technology into the managed long-term services and supports program.
“Horizon is committed to improving the health care experience of our 3.7 million members by being innovative, so we are extremely gratified to be placed on a short list of top companies using technology to better serve customers,” Douglas Blackwell, Horizon BCBSNJ’s senior vice president and chief information officer, said in a prepared statement.
The MLTSS program, initiated in July 2014 through Horizon BCBSNJ’s Horizon NJ Health subsidiary, offers home-based care for eligible Medicaid members. Horizon had to choose and deploy mobile technology for care delivery and administration to thousands of its members.
“We took an entirely new approach to ensure excellence in service to our MLTSS members,” Erhardt Preitauer, Horizon BCBSNJ’s senior vice president, government programs, and Horizon NJ Health CEO, said in a statement. “We custom-built all the right technology and processes in a very aggressive timeline, delivered on unique requirements on or ahead of schedule and ensured that our passionate and dedicated team members were technically equipped to perform.”
Winners of the Digital Edge 25 award are chosen by a panel of industry experts and business executives.
“The Digital Edge 25 awards completion was extremely competitive, with many nominations demonstrating enormous business value from mobile, data analytics and other digital innovations,” Anne McCrory, vice president of marketing and content strategy for the IDG Enterprise events team, said in a statement. “Those selected by our judges stood apart for executing initiatives that, for example, drove much greater customer engagement, higher sales conversions and even new lines of business.”
